Meet Our Chef

Vinay Swarup

Vinay Swarup was born in Detroit, Michigan, surrounded by several multi-ethnic neighborhoods. As a young boy, Vinay’s mother taught him basic skills involved in Indian cooking. Also handed down was the gift of wisdom that loving, living and eating are inseparable as well as the essence of life. With this passion for food and cooking he spent several years working in diverse restaurants in Michigan, but wanting to further his understanding, Vinay moved to New York and trained at the Culinary Institute of America. While a student he took some time off to travel to San Francisco and work at several Bradley Ogden restaurants in the Bay Area. Vinay joined Restaurant Associates in 2007 as Executive Chef at the Guggenheim Museum. He recently moved to NYU’s Torch Club where he orchestrates modern American cuisine mixed with an Indian culinary influence.
