UDW+ Training Course Catalog

Successful completion of UDW+ Training is mandatory to gain access to UDW+. Based on your role and responsibilities in regards to financial reporting and analysis, various training courses may be required. Please consult the list of course offerings below to determine which training is appropriate for your needs.


FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training

Course ID:  FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills and understanding of financial reporting.

Course Description: In this online course, you will learn the basics of UDW+ dashboard navigation, as well as a detailed understanding of the UDW+ Dashboards and Standard Reports that are available to you. For each dashboard that is selected within this course, training will include a thorough explanation of the reports and graphs contained within the selected dashboard, the underlying data, as well as business rules and processes. The convenience of this online training course enables you to complete it at your own pace, at any time of the day, and any location with internet access. After completion of the online training course, you must successfully complete the corresponding Quiz to be granted access to UDW+.

Duration: Approximately 30 - 45 minutes per Dashboard. So if training on two Dashboards is required, it may take 1 - 1.5 hours. 

Target Audience: All NYU financial reporting users who require access to UDW+ Dashboards and/or Interactive Standard Reports.

How to Register: Login to iLearn and search for FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training. Instructions on accessing the corresponding required quiz will be provided upon completion of the online training course.


FIN 810: UDW+ Quick Review of Functionality

Course ID:  FIN 810: UDW+ Quick Review of Functionality

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills.

Course Description:  This course is intended to provide a quick refresher of the basics of UDW+ dashboard functionality and navigation, and to be used in supplement with FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training. The course includes: UDW+ Client installation, set your homepage, access metadata, prompt, drill down, roll up functionality, print and export.

Duration: Approximately 10 minutes.

Target Audience: All NYU financial reporting users who have completed FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training and would like a refresher of UDW+ functionality.

How to Register: Login to iLearn and search for FIN 810: UDW+ Quick Review of Functionality. Instructions on accessing the corresponding required quiz will be provided upon completion of the online training course.


FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training

Course ID:  FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training

Prerequisites: FIN 800: UDW+ Dashboards Online Training and UDW+ access

Course Description: In this classroom instructor-led training course, you will learn how to use UDW+ for ad hoc financial reporting and analysis. You will get hands-on training in creating basic and complex analysis, adding graphs, formatting reports, as well as other functions of the reporting tool.  In addition to focusing on the functionality of UDW+, you will also learn to understand the data available in UDW+, as well as important business rules and processes in using the data for ad hoc reporting. 

Duration: The total course duration is four and a half (4.5) hours. You must successfully complete the course in it's entirety to be granted ad hoc reporting access to UDW+.

Target Audience: NYU financial reporting users, who have access to UDW+ and are familiar with the data, and would like to build ad hoc reports.

FIN 851: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Training Online Refresher

Course ID:  FIN 851: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Training Online Refresher

Prerequisites: FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training

Course Description: This online video serves as a refresher of FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training and is an additional aid to review the concepts taught in class. Completion of this course will not result in access to the ad hoc environment.

FIN 855: UDW+ Commonly Created Ad Hoc Reports

Course ID: FIN 855: UDW+ Commonly Created Ad Hoc Report

Prerequisites: FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training and UDW+ ad hoc access.

Course Description: This instructor-led course is available in-person and virtually for UDW+ commonly created financial ad hoc reports. Each course session focuses on a different report, such as AP Payment & AP Purchase Order, Budget Summary Monthly Trend, Year Over Year, and Fund Balance Trend. Login to iLearn to view a full description for each scheduled session.

Duration: 1 hour

Target Audience: NYU financial reporting users who have completed FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training and would like additional training on the creation of common UDW+ financial ad hoc reports.

How to Register: Attend training in person or virtually via “Go To Training”. Login to iLearn and search for FIN 855: UDW+ Commonly Created Ad Hoc Reports. The description for each scheduled session will include a list of topics, scheduled sessions and "Go To Training" information.


HRS 700: UDW+ Functionality

Course ID:  HRS 700: UDW+ Functionality

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills.

Course Description:  Basics of UDW+ dashboard functionality and navigation. The course includes: UDW+ Client installation, set your homepage, access metadata, prompt, drill down, roll up functionality, print and export.

Duration: Approximately 10 minutes.

Target Audience: All NYU users interested in UDW+ functionality and who require access to the UDW+ HR Administration Dashboard.

How to Register: Login to iLearn and search for HRS 700: UDW+ Functionality. Instructions on accessing the corresponding required quiz will be provided upon completion of the online training course.


HRS 750: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training

Course ID:  HRS 750: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training

Prerequisites: HRS 700: UDW+ Functionality and UDW+ HR data access and UDW+ HR ad hoc access

Course Description: In this classroom instructor-led training course, you will learn how to use UDW+ for ad hoc human resources reporting and analysis. You will get hands-on training in creating basic and complex analysis, adding graphs, formatting reports, as well as other functions of the reporting tool. In addition to focusing on the functionality of UDW+, you will also learn about the HR data available in UDW+, as well as important business rules and processes in using the data for ad hoc reporting.

Duration: The total course duration is four (4) hours. You must successfully complete the course in it's entirety to be granted HR ad hoc reporting access to UDW+.

Target Audience: This training is intended for the UDW+ HR Super Users, who have access to UDW+. If you require UDW+ HR Ad Hoc reporting access, we recommend:

  • First, become familiar with the reports and data available within the UDW+ HR Administration Dashboard.
  • A certain technical skill set: experience building ad hoc reports and highly proficient in excel and access.
  • Having a thorough understanding of HR data.

UDW+ Customized Advanced One-on-One Training

Prerequisites: UDW+ access and completion of either FIN 850: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training or HRS 750: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training.

Course Description: Customized advanced one-on-one training is available if you would like to learn more about the follow topics or any other topic of need:

  • Advanced Ad Hoc: includes features not part of the FIN 850 or HRS 750: UDW+ Ad Hoc Reports Classroom Training, such as built-in functions, action links, report prompts, linking analyses, and case statements.
  • Subject Areas: working with the available UDW+ subject areas for ad hoc reporting and analysis (Budget Summary, Budget Detail, AP Purchase Order, AP Payment, Grants Detail).
  • Dashboards: develop a custom dashboard for your department or division that visually displays and organizes information on a single screen.

This training provides a great opportunity to expand your skill level in using UDW+. We recommend that you become accustomed to the basics of UDW+ ad hoc reporting prior to requesting advanced training.

Duration: Customized

Target Audience: NYU financial reporting or human resources users who would like to learn advanced functionality.
