The majority of individuals residing in Greenwich Village and the Washington Square Village neighborhood are zoned for one elementary school.
- P.S. 3 - 490 Hudson Street, 212-691-1183
Plan to join one of the regularly scheduled monthly tours that are offered during the Fall months and early Winter to learn about the school. Tours provide parents with a unique opportunity to see the school and classrooms first hand, hear from the principal and parent coordinator, and ask questions.
Free public school bus transportation is provided to families in the Washington Square Village attending P.S. 3. For more information about transportation, consult the NYC Department of Education's website.
- NYU Faculty members with middle school-age children (grades 6-8) living in University housing are able to participate in a middle school choice process during the Fall of 5th Grade. Admissions screening of students by the individual middle schools takes place during the early Winter months and students are notified of their placement in May.
- Families who move to the City after the process is complete are guaranteed a seat at M.S. 104 (330 East 21 Street, 212-674-4545). The school has a student population of approximately 1100 students and offers placement in one of two programs: Academic (AP) or Special Progress (SP), known elsewhere as Honors.
- Families interested in exploring the other options in District 2 can go to the Office of Student Enrollment (333 Seventh Avenue, 12th Floor) to learn if there are any spaces available elsewhere.
