Local Child Care Programs

There are over 70 center-based programs and half a dozen family child care programs in close proximity to New York University. The University has a long history of supporting community-based organizations and over the years a close working relationship has evolved with a number of the local child care programs.

Below is a small sampling of center-based early childhood programs on or in close proximity to the Washington Square campus. Some provide priority spaces to NYU faculty and staff. For additional resources, contact Carebridge Life Resources.

NYU/University Settlement Family Child Care Program

Families Caring for Children in the Neighborhood

In 2007, New York University and University Settlement joined efforts to expand child care options in the area by developing high quaility family child care programs with you, your child and your family in mind.

Special program characteristics include:

  • Priority placement for children of NYU faculty, staff, and students
  • Nurturing environments tailored for small groups of children, 6 weeks through 4 years of age
  • Professional child care providers licensed by the NYC Department of Health
  • Bi-weekly individualized coaching and support from an early childhood education specialist
  • Bi-monthly workshops focus on curriculum implementation, child development, creative problem-solving, and more
  • On-going evaluation of the providers' care and educational practice, the child care environment, and children's developmental progress
  • Rates for full-time care (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) range from $300 to $450 per week.
