A Sampling of Programs in NYC

Advantage Sea and Sports Camp is a day camp open to children aged 6-17 that allows each camper the opportunity to learn and explore his or her interest with an exciting curriculum that includes tennis, soccer, softball, basketball, swimming, and various waterfront activities.

Asphalt Green offers year-round programs for children who enjoy swimming, playing sports, and other recreational activities. It provides a Summer Day Camp where children ages 4-13 can swim, play sports, and participate in other recreational activities. The Summer Swim Camp is an all-day camp for ages 8-15.

Atlantic Yachting Association provides a Summer Sailing Program for children ages 9-15. The program is situated on the Upper West Side.

Aviator Sports offers Adventure Camp for ages 5-15 and a junior camp for ages 3-5 years. A variety of sports activities such as volleyball, field sports, ice skating, basketball, aerobics are available. The camp’s activities help children develop leadership qualities, self-confidence, moral character, healthy living habits as well as knowledge of their environment, culture, the arts, and many sports. Located on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, camp hours are 9:00-4:00 p.m.

Bank Street serves children ages 4-14 with two sports camps divided by age, where children learn skills in several sports and have free time to play other sports of their choice.

Basketball City runs one-week basketball clinics from June through August for ages 8-17 at Hunter College.

Bumble Bee Tennis offers a Mini-Aces summer camp for kids ages 3-16. In addition to tennis lessons, kids have time for swimming lessons and tennis matches, as well.

Champion Tennis Club provides Summer Kids Minicamps for ages 5 and up from June through August. The minicamps are held from 9am to noon.

Chelsea Piers offers 15 different sports camps during the summer and several smaller camps during school vacation weeks.

Downtown United Soccer Club at Pier 40 offers half/full day camps, where kids can swim and/or play soccer! The program runs from June to August.

Fencers Club offers summer day camp for ages 7-15, consisting of various educational activities in the morning and exciting modern fencing in the afternoon.

The First Tee offers weekday and weekend programs for children ages 9-17. These programs focus on character education as well as golf instruction.

Jodi's Gym Camp offers children ages 3-7 with action packed day of music, art, story time, games. A structured gym time alllows children to stay healthy and active as they practice their gymnastic skills on the beam, bars, vault and tumble track in the gym. Camp hours are 9:30-12:30 p.m.

Manhattan Fencing Center offers a summer camp program for children ages 7 and up with little or no fencing background, the opportunity to learn basics from coaches and former Olympians through drills, games and open bouting. More experienced swashbucklers will practice tactical exercises and refine their hand-eye coordination and reflexes. Camp hours are 10:00- 3:00 p.m.

Manhattan Sailing School has a Teen Sailing Program for teens ages 8-18. Participants will get to sail around New York Harbor by the Statue of Liberty, Governor's Island, and by the New Jersey and Brooklyn waterfronts.

McBurney YMCA offers sports camps (soccer, swimming, volleyball, basketball, martial arts) and specialty camps with topics like cooking, dance, film making and science. Financial assistance is available.

NYC Elite offers Summer Camp through a half day program (for children 3-4 years) and a full day program (for children 5-12 years) from late-June to early-September. Activities include gymnastics, dance, swimming, tennis, arts and crafts, and park activities.

On Deck Baseball lets little sluggers take a swing at America's favorite pastime during their summer clinics. A typical day involves age-appropriate exercises and a game or two in Central or East River Park. When they're not batting and fielding, campers travel to local major and minor league games to watch the pros in action.

Queens College Education and Sports Camp offers children ages 5-14 excited, fun-filled days with instruction in a number of different activites. Campers can chose from age appropriate classes related to math, sciences and arts, to a sports activity like swimming, softball, tennis, basketball or dance. Sessions are available from 2 to 8 week sessions from July through August. Camp hours are 9:00-4:00 p.m. with early or extended hours available.

Super Soccer Stars holds soccer clinics in and around New York City during school vacation weeks in addition to their summer programs. They serve ages 2-9.

Randall's Island Sports Camp offers children 6-11 years the chance to participate in a week or summer full of fun activities. Each morning is devoted to a different sport like horseback riding, golf, tennis, soccer, and softball or baseball. These experiences are complemented by less-structured activites like bowling, biking and volleyball. Camp runs from June through August with half day sessions available.

Urban Adventures Camp provides information on various sports camps in the area.

Yorkville Youth Athletic Association has sports teams and programs for children of all ages. Sports offered include baseball and basketball. Programs are held at various locations throughout NYC.

NYU Footer
