Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Personnel Action Submission System (PASS) are the major administrative systems/tools available to Human Resources Officers, Finance Officers, Managers and Supervisors for accessing employee information.
HRIS
NYU's Human Resources Information System is a fully-integrated, comprehensive Payroll, Personnel, and Benefits system, supporting the management of employee information and payroll processing from initial hire through retirement. HRIS provides essential support to an extensive number of University-wide business functions, including strategic planning, compliance reporting and monitoring, faculty and staff recruitment and retention, eligibility determination for programs and services, and communication to the University community.
PASS
Personnel Action Submission System is a NYU Workflow application that automates the submission, routing, tracking, and approving/denying of personnel action requests. Approvals for personnel action requests are automatic whenever possible. Otherwise, the requests go through a review process, with input from the HR Reps, Finance Officers, Deans of the school associated with the transaction, and central administrative offices, as appropriate.
For further information on PASS: Click on Systems Training for access to the PASS Step-By-Step Action Guides, which have details on how to request or approve PASS Personnel Actions.
HR Reporting
NYU has a University Data Warehouse (UDW), which is the source for all administrative reporting. There are a number of standard reports available that allow a user to get detail and summary information in a variety of formats including PDF, MS Excel, text, and others.
Users also have the capability to develop ad-hoc reports on their own using the University’s standard reporting tool -- Hyperion/Brio. Training is required to get access to both standard and ad-hoc reporting resources.
For more details on the HR Reporting environment and available training, please refer to the NYU Reporting Home page at www.nyu.edu/reporting.
