Preparing for Advancement
New York University has a wide variety of resources that you can use to enhance your skills and advance your career. Take advantage of these opportunities to build your career at NYU.
Office of Talent, Learning, and Organizational Development
NYU Human Resources, through the Office of Talent, Learning, and Organizational Development, offers an array of career and skill development programs. New programs are created frequently, so see the professional development programs schedule.
Human Resources Officers
Each school and division at the University has designated Human Resources representatives who are responsible for administering University human resources policies within your school or division. Human Resources staff are also available to discuss career-related concerns including any interest that you have in seeking a transfer or promotion within your school or division.
New York University offers employees a unique opportunity to take courses through its tuition remission program. You can use tuition remission to:
- Earn a degree; from an Associates to a Ph.D.
- Take courses at the School of Professional Studies. These courses are usually offered at 80%.
- Take job related courses with the approval of your supervisor.
- Participate in skill-building courses such as computer literacy or communication courses.
Skill-Building Courses offered via Tuition Remission
As part of the University's collective bargaining agreement with Local 3882, skill-building courses are offered to Office and Clerical and Laboratory and Technical employees at 100% tuition remission. (Employees pay 20% at the start, and get reimbursed upon successful completion of the course.) Watch for emails at the beginning of every semester announcing the latest course offerings for UCATS members.
