Also known as DRI BASIC Economics database, contains approximately 7,000 U.S. macroeconomic data series and some international data over the period 1948 to 1997. Before you retrieve the data, you need to find out the series codes. Each data series has a unique code. Some on-line information about the codes is available courtesy of Ball State University Economics Department web site: Code Names and Key to First Letters in Name Codes. A sample of series and codes is listed in the database tour page of Ball State University site. The complete list can be browsed by opening with Microsoft Word the file X:\WINRATS\CITIBASE\CITIMAXI.LST.
Citibase data can be accessed by local users using RATS econometric software. A complete tutorial and sample program to retrieve the data are available in the RATS and Citibase introduction page courtesy of Bart Hobijn. The databses files are stored on NYU Dept. of Economics local network x: drive in the subdirectory X:\WINRATS\CITIBASE.
Datastream is an online database providing data on the world financial markets, economic time series from IMF, OECD, National Governments, company data, foreign stock and bond indices and more. The database allows for both data downloading and table/plots creation.
Datastream is available to New York University faculty and graduate students at Bobst Library databases centre through BobCatPlus workstations.
Comprehensive, indexed bibliography with selected abstracts of the world's economic literature. Produced by the American Economic Association. Includes over 400 journals, books, working papers from 1969 till the current issue. EconLit is an expanded version of the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) indexes of journals, books, and dissertations. In addition, EconLit includes citations to articles in collective volumes indexed in the annual volumes of the Index of Economic Articles, articles from over 250 journals not indexed in JEL, and the full-text of JEL book reviews. EconLit also incorporates the Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics (AWPE) database licensed from Cambridge University Press.

The EconData service of Inforum, at the University of Maryland, has collected and regularly updates several hundred thousand economic time series, produced by a number U.S. Government agencies and distributed in a variety of formats and media.They have been put into a standard form for personal computers and made publicly available through this site. These series include national income and product accounts (NIPA), labor statistics, price indices, current business indicators, industrial production, information on states and regions, as well as international data.

OECD International Statistical Yearbook
More than 500.000 data series are included in three separate sub-databases: Citibase, IMF International Financial Statistics, UNIDO Industrial Statistics. In addition, contains various other datasets by: EUROSTAT, OECD, IMF, UNIDO, Citibase, DBBK, Statbunds, DIW. Includes annual, quarterly, and monthly time series where available, from 1960 to 1994, and software allowing selection of the years, countries, and series desired. Data can be exported in spreadsheet or DB format.

OECD Main Economic Indicators
Contains a summary of the OECD International Statistical Yearbook, updated to the beginning of 1997. Includes annual, quarterly, and monthly time series where available. Data are in RATS format. They can be directly accessed trhough the RATS DATA conversion software, which will table them, build high-quality graphs, or export them in any other forma required. To use RATS DATA to view a list of the series contained in each of the files and to retrieve them, simply double click on the file in the File Manager program. Alternatively, the data can be managed by RATS econometric software. The National Longitudinal Surveys (NLS), sponsored by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, are a set of surveys each of which has gathered information at multiple points in time on the labor market experiences of five groups of American men and women. A compilation of the best-of-OECD statistics cover such areas as agriculture and food, general economics, national accounts, financial and fiscal affairs, development and aid, economic indicators, energy, industry, and science and technology. Contains two sub-databases. The first one, by OECD, reports macroeconomic, energy and R&D data. The second one, by IEA, features detailed energy statistics for OECD and not-OECD countries.Includes annual, quarterly, and monthly time series where available, from 1960 to 1994, and software allowing selection of the years, countries, and series desired. Data can be exported in spreadsheet or DB format.

The Penn World Tables (PWT), which contain a widely used data set of the main macroeconomic variables for many countries, were first published as an annex to the article by Robert Summers and Alan Heston, "The Penn World Table (Mark 5): An Expanded Set of International Comparisons, 1950-1988", Quarterly Journal of Economics, May 1991, pp.327--368. The current version 5.6 was made available in 1995. The Penn World Tables currently comprise data for 152 countries and 29 subjects, and most variables are updated to 1992

This internet source from the US Dept. of Commerce publishes the widest range of business and economic data the Federal Government has to offer, listing over 300,000 reports and statistical series, including: the national trade data bank, frequently requested statistical releases, Bureau of Economic Analysis economic information.
In addition, a long list of economic information other than data is offered. The National Trade data bank provides Market Research reports, archive of historical trade leads, country commercial guides, reports on demographic, political, economic conditions of hundreds of countries. The Economic Bullettin Board is a comprehensive source for government sponsored economic releases and business leads.
Statusa is available to New York University faculty and students through BobCatPlus workstations, ACF accounts and other NYU computer networks.
United Nations Statistical Yearbook
A comprehensive compendium of vital internationally comparable data for the analysis of socio-economic development at the world, regional and national levels. It provides data on world economy, its structure, major trends and current performance, as well as on issues such as world population, employment, inflation, production of energy, supply of food, external debt of developing countries, education, availability of dwellings, production of energy, development of new energy sources and environmental pollution and management.

It contains time-series data (mostly 1960-1995, projections up to 2003) for over 730 economic indicators, including the 400 ones presented in the World Development Indicators print edition. Information may be easily downloaded into other software programs.Overall the data sets provide an expanded view of the world economy for almost 150 countries with populations over one millionthe people who work and live in them, the environment, and the structural transformation of developing and high-income economies. Where available, data for the remaining 80 small and non-reporting economies of the world are included in summary tables. Also data for 13 country groups are provided. The World Development Indicators include: Country-at-a-Glance tables, Social indicators, Key Economic Indicators, information on modern telecommunications and on traditional infrastructure: roads, railroads, air transport, and power generation; measurement of economic performance. Debt tables in the database provide information about public debt, private nonguaranteed debt , use of IMF credits. Also features detailed country reports.
