The development of a vibrant and wide-ranging study abroad program is a highlight of NYU's evolution as a globally-networked university. The university encourages its students to take advantage of the many cultural and educational opportunities available in New York and to consider going abroad for research or study. Working toward the goal of having at least 50% of undergraduates experience study abroad at some point in their student career, the University has established a number of programs combining broad curricular offerings with more focused academic offerings salient to the location of operation. Additionally, academic year programs are available to some graduates and undergraduates through individual schools and departments that offer discipline-specific research opportunities.
