Family and Community Initiatives
As part of the Faculty Resources Office, the Family and Community Initiatives Office is dedicated to the family life of faculty, staff, administration, and graduate students of NYU. It provides information about child care and education resources, elder/adult dependent care, and work-family counseling.
First Women Athletes
The first women athletes to participate in the Olympics competed at the Amsterdam Games in 1928. Members of the women's swim team included NYU swim team captain Ethel McCary Engelsen (WSC 1928), Lisa Lindstrom Olson (WSC 1934), who was still a high school student in 1928, and Mary Washburn Conklin (WSC 1928).
