Purpose: The New York University Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award is presented to recognize faculty members who exemplify the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. through their positive impact within the classroom and the greater New York University community. For example, the faculty member could reflect MLK’s spirit through the subject matter they teach, their social or political activities, the inspiration they provide, their leadership, or their community-building efforts.

Eligibility: All NYU full-time or part-time faculty members. Previous winners cannot be renominated.

Who may submit nominations: Current full-time or part-time NYU students.

Nomination process: In the space provided below, submit the contact information and a detailed explanation (between 250 and 500 words) indicating why this faculty member should receive the MLK faculty award.

Selection process: A committee comprised of faculty and students considers the nominations and decides upon the final award recipients.

Award: Winners will be presented with the award and $2,500 in research funds during NYU's 2010 Martin Luther King Celebration Week.

Sponsored by: The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Student Diversity Programs and Services (a division of Student Affairs), and the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs.
