The First Annual Disability Summit
Sponsored by: the Disabilities Network of New York City and the Fund for the City of New York, in affiliation with the NYU Council for the Study of Disability
Location: Rosenthal Pavilion, Kimmel Center, NYU July 28, 2009
Purpose: To establish the framework for an action agenda to increase inclusion and access for people with disabilities in order to ensure their full participation in the economy and life in New York City and its communities.

Participants: Key decision makers in NYC government and policy and representatives of organizations of people with disabilities
Method: The planning methodology, Real Time Strategic Change with a focus on change at the system-wide level. The questions posed to the participants:
What are the major barriers to:
- achieving greater inclusion and access in NYC?
- increasing access to transportation in NYC?
- increasing affordable, accessible and safe housing in NYC?
Next Summit: The Second Disability Summit will be held at NYU in July 2010.
