The objective of the Councilís activities for the next two years will be to identify priorities and potential partnerships for research on issues that will address the concerns of people with disabilities in New York City, nationally and internationally. These activities will also inform the teaching in relevant programs and courses, increase disability awareness at NYU, and expand faculty participation in the Council.
The NYU Council for the Study of Disability was founded in 2007 with funding from the Provost’s Office and several deans. The Council welcomes participants from the faculty and student body across all of the schools and departments at NYU. Currently, active members come from Steinhardt, Tisch, FAS, the Medical and Law Schools. See our mission statement for more information.
