A Global Leader, at the Forefront of Dentistry
Read "A Conversation with Dean Charles Bertolami, DDS, DMedSc" from the June 2013 issue of Inside Dentistry.
The mission of the NYU College of Dentistry is to partner with students in achieving academic excellence, providing the best oral health care, and engaging in research, scholarship, and creative endeavors to improve the health of the highly diverse populations in New York City and around the world.
NYUCD's commitment to partnership also underlies our vision, which is to become the dental institution with the greatest impact on the health of society. This vision is possible because of three assets which distinguish NYUCD. The first is the size of the College and the impact that comes with it. The largest dental school in the United States, educating more than eight percent of our nation's dentists, NYUCD has made major investments in curricular and faculty resources to help students achieve their goals.
The second asset is our extraordinary global reach. NYUCD boasts a level of national and international diversity unmatched by other dental schools, along with a number of programs designed specifically to meet the professional needs of international dentists. The third asset is our location in New York City - the "World's Capital" - which allows us to leverage both the media and industry in ways that are not possible at other dental schools.
Fortified by these distinctive assets, NYUCD has set forth a bold agenda. Our goal is nothing less than to transform the nature of dental education and practice in ways that will dramatically improve the way we serve our students, our patients, and the surrounding community.
