NYU Dental Students: Exceeding Expectations

Academic Excellence

  • NYU College of Dentistry Class of 2012 scored a first-attempt pass rate of 100 percent (0 percent failure) on part 1 of the National Board Dental Examinations. Read more.
  • In every category of the exam, NYU dental students scored at least 8 percent higher than the national average.
  • Part 2 of the examination, taken by the 2011 graduating class, yielded a first-attempt pass rate of 98.6 percent, while the national pass rate is just below 90 percent.
  • The 2011 entering class has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.4.
  • The 2011 entering class scored an average of 20 on the Dental Admission Test. The national average is approximately 17.
  • All graduates of the Class of 2011 who applied for GPR programs were accepted.

Research Opportunities

  • NYU dental students have extensive opportunities to engage in research, including collaborating with faculty researchers. View video.
  • NYUCD received two American Association for Dental Research (AADR) National Student Research Group (NSRG) Awards for 2011.
  • NYUCD had 50 new AADR student members in 2010 and 2011 combined, representing the most new student members in AADR for the 2010-2011 membership years.
  • NYUCD had 45 student abstracts accepted for the 2011 AADR annual meeting.
  • NYUCD had the most student abstracts accepted for the 2011 International Association for Dental Research (IADR), American Association for Dental Research (AADR), and Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR) general session.
