NYU College of Dentistry (NYUCD) endeavors through its faculty, students and alumni to improve the health of the highly
diverse populations in New York City and around the world. NYUCD provides quality, affordable patient care to New Yorkers
of all ages and from all walks of life.
Each year more than 275,000 patient visits are made to NYUCD clinics, which provide comprehensive care for the most multicultural,
multiethnic patient population in the nation. In addition, the College of Dentistry:
- Conducts a mobile dental care program, Smiling Faces, Going Places, which travels to medically-underserved
areas throughout New York City to provide critically needed dental services;
- Operates the only dental school-based clinical research center in the U.S. that provides beds for 24-hour
patient monitoring;
- Is a national leader in oral cancer awareness and prevention, tissue engineering, dental implants, and
terrorism preparedness; and
- Sponsors a media-driven consumer education campaign, “Ask Your Dentist,” plus free oral cancer and oral
health screenings for thousands of New Yorkers annually.
Dental care at the College of Dentistry is primarily performed by dental students under the close supervision of experienced faculty dentists.
Every stage of treatment is checked and evaluated to ensure that you receive the highest quality care.
The College of Dentistry also trains general dentists to become specialists, and depending on the complexities of your condition, it is possible
that your care would be provided in one of these specialty programs.
Patient care in all phases of specialty and general dentistry is also provided by distinguished faculty on a fee-for-service basis. Patients who
wish to be treated by faculty in a private practice environment may visit the NYU Faculty Practices at the NYU Medical Center or in Greenwich Village.
