Dr. Joan Phelan Is First Honorary Member

The NYU Academy of Distinguished Educators has inducted their 2011–2012 members. They are Dr. Elena Cunningham, adjunct assistant professor of basic science and craniofacial biology; Dr. Maureen McAndrew, clinical associate professor of cariology and comprehensive care; Dr. Mary Northridge, assistant professor of epidemiology and health promotion; Dr. Andrew Schenkel, clinical assistant professor of cariology and comprehensive care; and Dr. Analia Veitz-Keenan, clinical assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial pathology, radiology and medicine. Dr. Joan Phelan, professor and chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Oral Medicine is the Academy's first honorary member.

"NYUCD takes great pride in the outstanding contributions to dental education, research, and scholarship of these newest members of the Academy, and in the recognition by the Academy of Dr. Joan Phelan as its inaugural honorary member. In selecting Dr. Phelan for this distinction, the Academy has set a very high bar for future honorary members," said Dean Bertolami.
