The Starr Foundation, one of the most respected philanthropies
in the world, has awarded a grant of $500,000 to NYUCD in support
of the Smiling Faces, Going Places mobile dental care program
to bring care to underserved children throughout New York City and
State for the next two years. An additional grant of $250,000 has
been awarded by New York State, marking the fourth consecutive year
that both The Starr Foundation and New York State have provided
major funding to improve the health and well-being of New York’s
neediest youngsters through the provision of mobile dental care.
Commenting on the grants, Dean Alfano said, “These
very generous grants from New York State and The Starr Foundation
demonstrate strong belief in the Smiling Faces, Going Places
program’s goals and reaffirm the importance of the public- private
partnership in maintaining and expanding New York’s healthcare safety
net. We express profound gratitude to the officers and trustees
of The Starr Foundation and to New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon
Silver and the New York State Legislature.”
