Board-certified prosthodontist; cross-trained in periodontology and implant dentistry.

NELSON DA SILVA, DDS, MSc, PhD
Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics

EXPERTISE:
Translational research focusing on the laboratory and clinical aspects for success of ceramic restorations, which includes reliability of new ceramic materials and implants as well as cementation concepts and non-thermal plasmas for dental materials surface modification.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
DDS from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil; Master’s and PhD degrees (in oral rehabilitation) from the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry in Brazil; formerly a research scientist at the NYU College of Dentistry, from which he received his post-doctoral training in the field of biomaterials in 2004.
