Our Educational and Reference Services Department provides hands-on workshops in OVID/Medline, EndNote, RefWorks, HTML and E-Resources at the Waldmann Library, as well as helping patrons with reference questions. We also provide orientation/tours of the library. Mediated searches are available to NYU Dental Center staff, faculty and students; an online literature search request form can be filled out for this purpose. Our staff also offers weekly orientations and OVID/Medline and other workshops. Please use this Registration Form to register for the courses below. Individualized instruction can be arranged by appointment.
Library instuction is a joint service provided by the NYU Health Sciences Libraries both at Waldmann's on-site teaching lab and in the Carlisle Computer Classroom at the Ehrman Medical Library. All classes are hands-on (except EndNote).

The library maintains 19 in-house computers for student, faculty and staff use. This inlcudes 10 in front of the Circulation Desk in the center of the library and 9 in the teaching lab. These machines should be primarily used for: When using the library's computers please refrain from:
Because of limitations, when the Library is busy please: Also, academic use of the library's computers always takes priority. Anyone not doing academic work may be ask to give up workstation in favor of a patron that needs the machine to do acedemic work.
The Waldmann Dental Library will assist all Dental students, faculty and staff with signing up for NYUHome (email) accounts. Please ask at the circulation desk for details or you can sign up and administer your NYUHome account yourself from the ITS Start page. Any forgotten password situations will be taken care of between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Technical Technical assistance is available for NYUHome or NYU-NET dial up ISP services through ITS Client Services at (212) 998-3333 or visit the ITS website.
The library maintains a bibliography of literature written by the faculty at NYU College of Dentistry, published 1994 - present. It is updated monthly via the MEDLINE database. Please send submissions via the Ask a Librarian form in our Forms Section.
Books and articles not found in the Dental Library may be borrowed from other libraries through our interlibrary loan program. Please use the Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Materials ordered within the metropolitan area take approximately three to ten days to obtain.
The library has two photocopy machines, which are located in the rear, right corner of the library. The vending machine next to the library entrance will supply you with copy cards. First time purchase of a card is $1 which will give you a card with five copies. The card itself cost 50 cents. Additional copies can be added to the card at the time of purchase or at a later date using the machine. The price for photocopying is 10 cents a page. The vending machine now accepts both new and old bill designs in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20. If you are experiencing problems with the vending machine please inquire at the Circulation Desk. Unfortunately, we can not give out change.
The lab is open 9am to 9pm Monday through Thursay and 9am to 5pm on Friday. Technical support is available from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday. There is no eating or drinking allowed in the lab at any time. We have 9 PC workstations with: |
