The mission of the John and Bertha E. Waldmann Memorial
Library is to facilitate access to all forms of information in order to
promote dental education, research and patient care at the New York University
College of Dentistry.
Established in 1910, the Waldmann Memorial Library has
over 38,000 volumes on dentistry and related subjects. It maintains subscriptions
to more than 550 professional journal titles, including over 100 electronic journals,
and associated dental indexes. The Library contains more than a dozen
public access computer workstations linked to the NYU community and the
world via the Internet, 6 television monitors for videotape viewing, and
a 24-hour study room for dental students only.
For extensive bibliographic searches, students have access
to OVID, a collection of databases including MEDLINE from the National
Library of Medicine; Web of Science from the Institute of Scientific Information;
ProQuest; Lexis-Nexis Academic; and MEDCat, the online catalog of the
NYU Dental, Medical and Environmental Sciences Libraries; as well as numerous
other bibliographic databases.
The Waldmann Library's multimedia collection contains
interactive CD-ROMs, slides, audio cassettes and videotapes dealing with
all aspects of dental medicine and science and related subjects.
The Dental Center Archives are now housed with the University
