Research Interests / Professional Overview:

  • The Affect of an Interactive CD and the use of Chewing Gum on Learning Dental Anatomy.
  • New Concepts in Teaching Dental Anatomy: A Delphi Study.
  • Open Label Clinical Study of Polymer Bur Carious Dentin Removal.

Dr. Allen has been Principal and Co-Investigator in both clinical and educational research projects. His areas of interest include education and teaching methodologies.

Dr. Kenneth Allen is the Director of the General Dentistry Simulation Program which encompasses 7 courses over the first two pre-doctoral years. He has lectured nationally and is author of multiple articles on preclinical education and teaching methodologies. Dr. Allen was instrumental in instituting the Selective in Teaching Skills program where third year students assist first year students in their early preclinical courses.

Dr. Allen is a member of numerous dental organizations included among them are the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the American Association for Dental Research, and the American Dental Education Association.
