Advanced Program in Orthodontics for International Dentists
The Advanced Programs in Orthodontics for International Dentists is designed specifically for International dentists seeking to improve their orthodontic clinical skills and knowledge. All international students participate in didactic education and work together in practice teams with the postgraduate residents.
Upon successful completion of the Year One Advanced Program in Orthodontics for International Dentists, students develop the skills to diagnose, develop a treatment plan and treat patients with minor to moderately severe malocclusion esthetically and functionally to an ideal occlusion. Pending academic performance and clinical excellence in the Year One Program, successful candidates who apply and are accepted into the Year Two Advanced Program in Orthodontics will have a second year to further build on their Year One training and complete the patients they started.
Year Two students will also be taught more advanced techniques such as the use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs), advanced mechanotherapy, interdisciplinary complex care, orthodontics for orthognathic surgery and craniofacial anomalies. In addition to this education, they will be offered the opportunity to participate in research.
Successful completion of the program is based on several assessments which include but are not limited to: clinic performance, class participation, oral exams, written assignments.
Outstanding students are encouraged to apply for consideration to the Year Two Program.
Both the Year One and Year Two programs span a duration of one year.
