COURSE OVERVIEW:
This program is designed to provide generalists and dental specialists with the latest advances and developments in the orthodontic preparation of complex restorative,
esthetic and Implant therapy patients. The patient's skeletal and dental components, combined with facial and gingival esthetics' all affect diagnosis, treatment planning and
treatment goals.
Comprehensive "TEAM-Oriented" Treatment planning and sequencing of therapy will be emphasized particularly related to interdisciplinary preparation of the complex restorative
and esthetic patient. It will stress interaction of surgical-implant/restorative-orthodontic disciplines, in preparation for complex restorative and esthetic therapy.
Program objectives:
At the completion of his program the participant will be able to:
- Understand the general approach and sequence of "TEAM" therapy in the complex restorative/esthetic/implant patient
- Understand the role of the Orthodontist on the IDT "TEAM" and value to treatment results
- Understand site development in preparation for esthetic, restorative and implant therapy
- Understand the management of congenitally missing teeth
- Understand the appropriate timing of implants
- Be familiar with implant enhanced orthodontics
- Understand the role of orthognathics in preparation for implants and restorative therapy
- Be familiar with the role of orthodontic extrusion and intrusion mechanics for alveolar bone augmentation and gingival margin leveling
- Understand guidelines for anterior esthetic correction via conventional vs. "Instant" orthodontics
- Evaluate multiple cases treated in the "TEAM" environment
Bio:
Jackie Berkowitz, DDS, M.S., is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry (1973), and completed his orthodontic training at Case Western
Reserve University (1975) receiving his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics. He is a part-time Clinical Associate Professor of Orthodontics.
He maintains a private practice limited to Orthodontics in Gahanna, Ohio (a Columbus suburb) and is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Berkowitz has lectured on the local, state, national and international level.
