COURSE OVERVIEW:
"Oral Cancer Diagnostics: : Practicing for Life sm" is an exciting interactive web-based continuing education course about oral cancer for oral health care providers. Enrollees will be introduced to three patients: During your encounter with the first patient, you observe the components of an oral cancer screening, including video of the extra-oral and intra-oral examination. The second patient has a suspicious lesion. To help you develop your diagnostic skills, you will learn about cancerous and precancerous lesions, and contemporary diagnostic techniques, including the brush biopsy. The third patient presents following treatment for oral cancer with a number of oral complications. Dental considerations for patients with oral cancer will be discussed, with clinically applicable information to help you provide treatment to these patients. After completing this course, you will be able to:
A grade of 75 or higher is required on the final exam to receive 3 CDE credits for this course. Participant progress is monitored weekly. Participants failing to receive the necessary exam score will be contacted about re-taking the exam. Upon successful completion of the course, the Office of Continuing Dental Education will forward appropriate documentation to the address provided at the time of registration.
