COURSE OVERVIEW:
Do you understand the relationship between esthetics and function? Is there a relationship between worn teeth, unaesthetic smiles, clenching and grinding, and chewing dysfunction?
Bioesthetic Dentistry (BD) is a health-based approach to functional esthetic dentistry based on three simple principles. You will learn three steps to quickly assess the functionality of the mouth.
Principles, guidelines, and treatment techniques will be reviewed. Bioesthetic Dentistry (BD) is an approach to functional esthetic dentistry that first analyzes the functionality of the mouth with mounted models on an articulator. The MAGO
(Maxilary Anterior Guided Orthotic) appliance stabilizes the jaw prior to wax-up visualization of treatment. Transfer techniques to visualize the wax-up prior to treatment will be provided. Treatment integrating interdisciplinary care will be
presented with an emphasis on the facial changes provided.
Course Objectives:
- Review the principles of BD (Bioesthetic Dentistry) – form of teeth, occluded dentition and joint
- Review of the Biologic Model for optimal dental health, beauty and function
- Examine the commonalities of lasting healthy, functional, esthetic dentitions
- Present the BD paradigm for diagnosis and treatment planning, with emphasis on use of the MAGO (Maxilary Anterior Guided Orthotic)
- Learn the guidelines of Coronaplasty and simplify occlusal adjustment
- Apply the principles of BD to provide predictable functional esthetic dentistry, and integrate interdisciplinary care
- Review and learn the importance of tooth form and understand the etiology of tooth wear
