Oral Surgery/Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
Three-year Program

The Advanced Program for International Dentists in Oral Surgery/RCSI is a full-time, three-year program affiliated and credentialed by the internationally recognized Oral Surgery Program at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. This program is designed for internationally trained dentists who seek to improve their clinical skills and plan on practicing dentistry outside of the United States.

Objective: To increase the student's understanding of the biological basis of oral and maxillofacial theory and practice.

Clinical Curriculum Includes:
  • Bone grafting techniques
  • Complex extractions
  • Biopsies
  • Pre-prosthetic surgery
  • Endodontic surgery
  • Sinus floor augmentation
  • Implant surgery
  • Dentoalveolar trauma/reconstruction
  •  

    Participants treat a variety of patients under the guidance of a diverse and experienced faculty.

  • Prerequisites for RCSI Program:
  • MFD Examination Part I or
  • National Board Dental Examination Part I
  • Upon successful completion of the Oral Surgery/RCSI Program, students receive certification from NYUCD. In addition, the participants become eligible to take Part II of the MFD examination at the end of year one and the internationally recognized Fellowship of the Faculty of Dentistry (FFDRCSI OSOM) examination in year three. All clinical experience will take place at New York University College of Dentistry.

    About Dr. Michael D. Turner:
    Michael D. Turner DDS, MD, FACS is the Program Director for the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Oral Surgery at the NYU College of Dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has been the recipient of several awards in recognition of his dedication to excellence in research, community service, and his many contributions to the field of dentistry. Dr. Turner is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Fellowship of the Faculty of Dentistry in Oral Surgery with Oral Medicine Examination, has published multiple research articles, and continues to lecture both domestically and abroad.
