Outreach Opportunities

NYU College of Dentistry provides the most extensive student outreach opportunities of any dental school in the nation. Students participate in local outreach programs for schoolchildren, the elderly, people with disabilities, the homeless, and underserved populations.

One example is the Smiling Faces, Going Places mobile dental program, which extends the walls of the NYU pediatric dental clinic into the community. Each day the van travels to a Head Start Program or public school to provide much needed dental services and education. It is expanding access to dental care for more than 1,500 New Yorkers annually, primarily children, who would never see a dentist otherwise.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in global outreach programs that provide care for indigent populations in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, South Africa, and other countries.
