BA-DDS and Joint Degrees
BA - DDS Program
The New York University College of Dentistry, in conjunction with other selected universities and colleges, offers a
seven-year combined degree program in dental education. The program is designed for strongly motivated high school
graduates whose primary goal is dentistry; successful participation in the program leads to the Bachelor of Arts and
Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees.
The first three years are spent primarily at the undergraduate institution and the remaining four at the College of
Dentistry. The curriculum emphasizes behavioral and social sciences in order to meet the need for patient-oriented,
broadly educated dental health professionals.
Candidates for the BA-DDS Program are expected to have outstanding high school records and SAT scores reflecting
strong aptitude for advanced study. Candidates apply directly to the undergraduate institution. A personal interview
conducted by faculty members at the undergraduate institution is required.
Once accepted, students must maintain an honors grade point in the undergraduate institution, meet the college's
requirements for the baccalaureate degree, and satisfy admissions requirements of the College of Dentistry. Students
are also expected to score well on the Dental Admissions Test, taken in October of the third year. Students will be
interviewed by the Admissions Committee of the College of Dentistry before being formally notified of acceptance.
Candidates are given primary consideration by the College of Dentistry Admissions Committee, and the application fee
of $75.00 is waived.
