- Provided technical assistance to the New Orleans Police Department (Fall 2005 to Spring 2006) in the development of a needs assessment and strategic plan for peer support.
- Program planners for New Orleans agreed that implementation of a peer support program for first responders in New Orleans (in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita) was impeded by the lack of any pre-existing peer support program and the competing need to rebuild the city while simultaneously addressing the emotional impact of the event on police officers. Almost all NOPD officers surveyed (82%) agreed that peer support programs would be very helpful.
- PSTR Conference - The NYPD Experience: The Promise of Peer Support, New York University, April 16, 2008, Dr. Linda G. Mills presented study findings to over 70 first responders, clinicians, academics and students. Opening Remarks were given by New York City Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly.
