Feedback ServicesRequest form (PDF)
How to Request a Consultation Faculty members and Teaching Assistants may take advantage of CTE confidential feedback services. Instructors may simply meet with a consultant to talk about issues related to teaching, or they may ask a consultant to observe one or more classes. Each observation is a three part process: 1. A pre-observation meeting in which the instructor and consultant discuss the goals of the course, the particular class session to be observed, and what the instructor would like the consultant to look for during the observation. 2. The class visit itself. 3. A post-observation meeting in which the instructor and consultant discuss the class observation and plan strategies for any changes they together believe will lead to improvement. Depending on the interests of the instructor, the observation can also be videotaped, or conducted as a Small Group Analysis (SGA). Confidentiality StatementIt is the policy of the Center for Teaching Excellence to respect the confidentiality of the consultation process that occurs between an instructor and a consultant. All correspondence and information associated with our office is marked as confidential and securely filed. Center staff and consultants will not share your private information except to confirm, when asked, that you have taken advantage of our service. The Center's feedback process has no bearing in promotion or tenure decisions and is in no way associated with standard departmental evaluative reports. Requesting Feedback ServicesTo schedule a feedback service, fill out the application and email, fax, or mail it to us. (We can also email you a Word or WordPerfect version of the file at your request.) Please give us at least 10 business days before your first requested observation date.
