Counseling and Wellness Services (CWS) can help with any mental health concerns you might experience, including stress, anxiety, alcohol or drugs, eating, depression, family issues, suicidal thoughts, and more.

We offer individual counseling, group counseling, wellness workshops, referrals to long-term services in the community, and long-term psychiatric medication services on-site. Except for psychiatry services, all counseling services are provided at no cost.

No problem is too big or too small: Call, chat, make an appointment – or meet with a counselor in a same-day Urgent Counseling session.

Counseling appointments are available in person and virtually. If you need a private space for a CWS counseling session, we've got you covered!

Please do not visit in person without an appointment. If you need Urgent Counseling, please call the Wellness Exchange at (212) 443-9999 to arrange a same-day session.

Counseling

Counseling is a professional relationship that helps you clarify issues, discover your true wishes and feelings, and deal effectively with problems. Counseling is available on a single session, group, short-term, or urgent (same-day) basis. For longer-term treatment, we can make referrals to off-campus providers.

Wellness Workshops

Wellness Workshops are free and confidential classes held via Zoom throughout the semester on a variety of topics — including insomnia, public speaking, anxiety, biofeedback, and more. Some meet once per month, while others meet more frequently.

Psychiatry

Psychiatric medication services are available if you require assessment and treatment with psychiatric medications. CWS professionals will work with you to determine the best course of treatment for you.

Recovery

CWS offers free, non-judgmental, and confidential assistance to NYU students who have concerns related to their use of alcohol or other drugs. Learn about services for students in recovery, including the SAFE Program.
