NYU is committed to maintaining a quality program of humane animal care and use in the conduct of research. All concerns or complaints involving the care and use of animals will be reviewed, investigated, and acted upon according to specific institutional guidelines in compliance with Public Health Service (PHS) policy and the Animal Welfare Act (AWA).

PHS requires prompt reporting to the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) for any serious or continuing noncompliance with PHS policy or the Animal Welfare Regulations (AWRs) such as conducting animal-related activities without appropriate IACUC review and approval, any suspension of an activity by the IACUC, and failure of animal care and use personnel to adhere to IACUC reviewed and approved institutional policies and procedures.

Concerns can be reported confidentially or anonymously and with full protection against reprisal. Submit an anonymous report or call the compliance hotline at 877-360-7626. To make a confidential report of any concerns regarding animal care and use, please send an email to: uawc.concerns@nyu.edu.
