When someone experiences trauma related to sexual misconduct, relationship violence or stalking, it can impact more than just those directly involved. Trauma affects those who experience harm (complainant), their support systems and the communities they engage in. Additionally, trauma can impact those who reportedly cause harm (respondents), their support system and communities as well.

It is important that all involved have access to services both on and off campus to assist them through their experience. Services can include information about common reactions, how to support friends, processing rights/options and emotional support.

The S.P.A.C.E.

The Sexual Misconduct Prevention Assistance Counseling Education, (S.P.A.C.E.) is a multipurpose space dedicated to prevention, assistance, counseling, and education where students can gather, get connected to counseling services, discover additional support, and use as a safe space and meeting area.

Services provided by NYU staff at The S.P.A.C.E. are confidential, however, conversations with other students at The S.P.A.C.E. may not be — always ask before you reveal details you want to keep confidential.
