What do you enjoy most about working at NYU?
I love working at NYU and in RLHS, because of the constant areas I can grow and develop. Each day I am pushed and encouraged to find opportunities to become more efficient and innovative. Our department welcomes creativity, new ideas, and strives for excellence. My colleagues strike the balance of being supportive and helpful professionally as well as communal and social personally. My favorite part of working at NYU is the commitment to accessibility and equitable experiences for staff and students.

What do you enjoy most about working at NYU?
The people! Fantastic staff, inspiring students, and motivating leadership. I often share that I work with some of the best and brightest, and I believe that. We have a diverse range of interests and talents among the professional staff team. It is incredible to see individuals pursue these talents in various ways, and I learn so much from others here. There is also a strong camaraderie and commitment to make things the best they can be at RLHS and NYU, what more could I ask for?

What do you enjoy most about working at NYU?
Going from a day job to working night shifts can be difficult to transition into, however, the endless support and understanding that I received from my team and supervisors is outstanding. In addition, the open-mindedness/willingness to learn and embrace new ideas from employees has been one of the things that I enjoy the most as I’m working at NYU.

Living and Working at NYU/NYC

NYU is building a new paradigm in higher education, which we call the Global Network University. Designed to draw talented, creative students, scholars, and teachers from around the world, our global network enables people to circulate freely without leaving NYU’s intellectual community and resources.

NYC is in itself a global microcosm with an estimated 800 languages spoken in the city and residents representing over 200 countries. You can spend your morning in Chinatown, your afternoon in Little Italy and your evening in Spanish Harlem and see many different cultures in a single day. The city is definitely a tourism hot spot with over 40 million people visiting annually to explore the plethora of restaurants, galleries, museums, theaters, sporting events and shopping destinations New York has to offer. We are fortunate to live in a dynamic city that offers us many opportunities not only for our students but also for the professionals that work here. In New York, there really is something for everyone.

Working with Students

Our students are highly talented, motivated, and driven in the work that they do in and outside of the classroom. As a professional staff member, you work closely with student leaders and student staff to make NYU and NYC a home away from home for residents through programming, collaboration and innovative practices.

The Inter-Residence Hall Council (IRHC) is an award-winning group that provides some amazing experiences for our students - and Housie, their mascot, is a friendly face known throughout campus. Some programs that they are known for are Ultra Violet Live (UVL), Flurry, and Elegance to name a few. The Torch Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) strives to recognize the amazing work that is being done in the NYU community. Our student staff enhances the live-on experience through their direct interactions with students on a daily basis.

With IRHC, NRHH, and the efforts of our student staff, NYU residents are supported and engaged to be the best that they can be.
