Example

Tutorial

  1. Navigate to and open your page.
  2. Add the Events Calendar component.
  3. A new Events Calendar placeholder icon will display in the space.
  4. To edit the component, click or touch the placeholder. The component toolbar will display along the top of the space.
  5. Select the wrench icon to configure the component.
  6. You can add an optional Header that will appear above the listing of your events. This field is optional and has a character limit of 150.
  7. Configure your Events Calendar Feed:

Your calendar feed URL may be constructed to return all your events, events that have been assigned a specific category, or only events that you've entered with specific tags assigned. There are many permutations that may be created to surface specific events. The NYU Events Team can assist you with creating the URL that will best capture the information you wish to display. Contact the Digital Communications Events Team at events@nyu.edu with any questions or if you need assistance with URL construction.

Here are some examples using the Calendar Group "Arts-and-Science":
    1. All Events
If you want your Calendar Component to display all the events your Calendar Group has entered into the Events Calendar, your URL would be constructed with the format:
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/json/group/arts-and-science
    2. Events by Category
If you want your Calendar Component to display all the events your Group has entered into the Events Calendar that are only in the Category "Speakers", your URL would be constructed with the format:
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/json/group/arts-and-science/category/speakers
    3. Events by Tag
If you want your Calendar Component to display all the events your Group has entered into the Events Calendar to which you've assigned the Tag "journalism", your URL would be constructed with the format:http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/json/tag/journalism

If you'd like to display all events with a certain tag across groups,  use this format: http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/json/group/arts-and-science/tag/journalism

    4. Events with Multiple Criteria
If you want your Calendar Component to display all the events your Group has entered into the Events Calendar with the Category "Speakers" AND the Tag "journalism", your URL would be constructed with the format:
      http://www.nyu.edu/feeds/events/json/group/arts-and-science/category/speakers/tag/journalism
  8. Select a Calendar Time Span from the drop-down menu for the events that will be displayed. The minimum amount is 1 day, the maximum is 1 year. If selecting 1 month as your time span then the calendar will display events within a month from the current date, so if the date is the 18th then the calendar will show events through the 18th of the following month. The same logic applies when selecting the 4 month, 6 month, and 1 year options.
  9. Set a Number of Events to Display to limit of how many events within your previously selected calendar time span are shown in your list. This number is the maximum number of events that will be displayed, regardless of how many events are actually within your chosen time span. There is a maximum display of 25 events.
  10. Configure the More Events link. These fields are optional.
    1. More Events Text is the linked text that will display in a similar style to the Button Promo.
    2. For the More Events URL you can browse to select a CMS page or file in the DAM, insert an external URL, insert an email address, or add an anchor link.
      1. If you wanted to link to your full Events Calendar your URL would be:
        https://events.nyu.edu/#view/all/groups/group-name
      2. If you wanted to link to all events with a particular tag your URL would be:
        https://events.nyu.edu/#view/all/tags/tag-name
  11. Click or touch the checkmark to save and close the dialog window.
