The Content Management System (CMS) is comprised of two facets:

  • The Authoring Environment: a "back-end" environment where you log into and manage your site content.
  • The published website: when you publish your work in the authoring environment. it displays on the public facing website.

Within this section, we'll use the term "CMS" to refer to the authoring environment.

The authoring environment provides you with a easy to use, web-based interface to edit content and upload digital assets to the Digital Asset Management (DAM) repository.

In the CMS, you'll work with web Pages. Each page is created using a pre-defined Template and houses content created via Components.   Every item on a page (text, images, digital media) is stored as Content in the CMS repository.
