Book cover: "The Gourmands' Way" by Justin Spring

New York University’s Fales Library and Special Collections is pleased to present a reading by Justin Spring-- from his latest work, The Gourmands’ Way: Six Americans in Paris and the Birth of a New Gastronomy.  The reading takes place on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 4pm in Bobst Library, Third Floor, 70 Washington Square South (at LaGuardia Place), NYC. [Subways A,C,E, B,D,M to West 4th Street; 6 line to Astor Place; R train to 8th Street.]

In The Gourmands’ Way, Justin Spring chronicles the experiences of six Americans (A. J. Liebling, Julia Child, Alice B. Toklas, Alexis Lichine, M.F.K. Fisher, and Richard Olney) who immersed themselves in French culinary traditions, delighting in all that mid-century Paris had to offer. Each would go on to write books on the topic, and would play an essential role in popularizing and translating French cuisine for an American audience, revolutionizing the way that Americans thought about cooking, food, and wine in the process.

Free and open to the public.  MEDIA ONLY: Reporters interested in covering or attending the event must contact Christopher James at 212-998-6876 or email christopher.james@nyu.edu.
