NYU King Juan Carlos I Center will host a screening and discussion of a TV doc recounting the struggle of many families to remove their relatives from the Valle de los Caídos (the “Valley of the Fallen”), a monumental symbol of the 40-year dictatorship in Spain.
On February 14, 6:30 pm, the NYU King Juan Carlos I Center will host a screening of the TV documentary “I’ll Get You Out of Here, Abuelo!” (Armengou/Belis, 2013). The documentary recounts the struggle of many families to remove their relatives from the Valle de los Caídos (the “Valley of the Fallen”), a monumental memorial constructed in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial by Francisco Franco – and a symbol of the 40-year dictatorship in Spain.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Montse Armengou, SPRING '17 King Juan Carlos I of Spain Chair in Spanish Culture and Civilization .
