NYU will host Alexis Gambis, founder and director of Imagine Science Films, for a discussion of his first feature-length film, “The Fly Room,” on Fri., Jan. 23, 2015, at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) Auditorium.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a screening of “The Fly Room” (2014, 83 min.), which Gambis wrote and directed, followed by a discussion on science and the cinema. Inspired by a true story, the film explores the relationship between a 10-year old daughter Betsey and her father-scientist as he gives her an unorthodox education in genetics.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 212.998.3801 or email mz991@nyu.edu. The evening is part of NYU’s “Science at the Square,” a series of lectures focusing on scientific topics of interest to the general public and sponsored by NYU’s Dean for Science. Gambis is also a visiting assistant professor of biology at NYU Abu Dhabi.
