Free Student Financial Planning Session to be Offered at 2:00 PM

The NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business, in conjunction with the Financial Planning Association of New York, will host the 12th Annual Financial Fitness Workshop to kick-off this year’s National Financial Planning Week in New York. The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at NYU’s School of Law, Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South.

 

This year’s event will offer a FREE session just for students from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Tishman Auditorium. Titled “10 Things You Need to Know after You Graduate,” students will learn the keys to become financially literate and independent.  The session will cover establishing the building blocks, such as goal setting and budgeting, necessary for providing a path to your financial future.  Students will gain insight into:

  • Addressing student debt
  • Using credit responsibly to remain debt free
  • Saving and investing to realize your dreams
  • Becoming tax savvy
  • Managing your risks
  • Protect yourself against catastrophic financial events

 

The speakers for the session are: Mark Sallinger, CFP®, a director for Deutsche Bank Asset Wealth Management and co-director of the Pro Bono Committee for the Financial Planning Association of New York, who possesses more than 25 years of broad financial services industry and consulting experience; and Anthea Perkinson, CFP®, co-director of the Pro Bono Committee for the Financial Planning Association of New York, who possesses 20 years of financial experience.

 

The free session is only open to students with a valid student ID.  IDs will be checked at the auditorium door.

Tickets for the full-day workshop are $40; for NYU students, faculty, and staff with I.D., $30. Morning coffee and lunch are provided. The net proceeds of the event will be donated to Project Renewal, a local charity serving the homeless with health services, homes, and jobs. Space is limited and reservations are required.
