The NYU College of Nursing has recently received a number of prestigious grants. The following is a list of just some of their awards.

College of Nursing Receives Prestigious Grants

• Professor Tara A. Cortes has received a three-year, $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention for “The Collaborative, Continuous Care (3C’s) Model” project. This grant reflects a practice/education partnership between the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, the NYU College of Nursing, the NYU Silver School of Social Work, the Touro College of Pharmacy, and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.

• Cortes has also received a three-year, $1.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration Advanced Nursing Education Program for “Interprofessional Care of Older Adults.” This initiative will foster communication and collaboration between physicians and nurse practitioners with a focus on transitional care handoffs of patients with multiple chronic conditions.
• The college was recently selected for the fourth time as a grant recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program. During the 2013-14 academic year, the $100K grant will provide $10,000 scholarships to five students in the college’s Accelerated Second Degree Baccalaureate Program who are traditionally underrepresented in the field of nursing and are pursuing a second career in nursing.
• The Helene Fuld HealthTrust recently awarded the college a $960,000 grant to fund financial aid for students enrolled in the Accelerated Second Degree Baccalaureate Program. The grant will be used to establish the Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship Fund for Accelerated Second Degree Baccalaureate Nursing Students.
• Judith Haber, associate dean of graduate programs and the Ursula Springer Leadership Professor in Nursing, received a three-year, $1.2 million Advanced Nursing Education Program grant for “Teaching Oral-Systemic Health” from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Funding under the program goes to support the enhancement of advanced nursing education and practice.
