Launch of New Webinar Series

The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing (HIGN) located at the NYU College of Nursing and the National Gerontological Nursing Association (NGNA) have joined together to launch a new webinar series to improve nursing care for older adults. The one-hour webinars will be held every month, and then archived on the Hartford Institute e-Learning center (http://www.hartfordign.org/education/webinars/.)

These webinars are part of a Gerontological Certification Review “Package” that builds upon the resources of HIGN and NGNA as well as provides resources to improve nursing care of older for all practicing nurses and educators.  The webinars, presented by expert faculty from NGNA and HIGN, will present clinical topics relevant to improving the delivery of healthcare to older adults, covering topics such as patient- and family-centered care approach to delirium, fall prevention, medication management, and diabetes management.  Partners of HIGN and members of NGNA will be able to access these webinars and other resources developed by the Hartford Institute, including the Geronotological Nursing Certification Review Course and other online learning modules, at discounted rates.

The first webinar, “The Patient and Family Centered Care Approach to Delirium Care- From Acute to Long Term Care” presented by Tara Cortes, PhD, RN. FAAN will be held on Friday February 22, 2013 at 1pm.  To register for this webinar go to http://www.hartfordign.org/education/webinars/. First time users of the e-learning center will be able to create an account to be able to access registration.  The fee for each webinar will include one contact hour in nursing.

Continuing education in nursing is provided by the NYU College of Nursing Center for Continuing Education in Nursing, which is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
