Zimmerman's book is aimed at academics, students, and practitioners across a wide range of fields, including transport planning and policy, environmental economics, environmental management, urban planning, public policy, and terrorism and security.

Join Rae Zimmerman, NYU Wagner professor of planning and public administration, as she discusses her new book, “Transport, the Environment and Security - Making the Connection” on Monday, October 29 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. The school is housed in The Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street (at Houston), 2nd Floor, New York, N.Y.

Synthesizing existing data, new analyses, and a rich set of case studies, Professor Zimmerman’s book (2012: Edward Elgar Publishing, Ltd.) uses transportation networks as a framework to draw together the typically conflicting arenas of transport, the environment, and security, and provides collective solutions to their respective issues and challenges. The book is aimed at academics, students, and practitioners across a wide range of fields, including transport planning and policy, environmental economics, environmental management, urban planning, public policy, and terrorism and security.

Zimmerman is director of both the Urban Planning Program and the Institute for Civil Infrastructure Systems (ICIS) at NYU Wagner.

The book talk event is made possible by the University Transportation Research Center (UTRC) at The City College of New York. It is co-hosted by NYU Wagner and the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management at New York University.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is required. To register, visit http://www.utrc2.org/events/book-talk/transport-environment-and-security.
