The New York University Creative Writing Program’s Fall 2012 Reading Series concludes in November and December with events featuring Emma Donoghue (Nov. 14), Colm Tóibín (Nov. 15), and former Poet Laureate Charles Simic (Nov. 29). All events are held in the program’s Greenwich Village home, the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House, located at 58 W. 10th Street (between 5th and 6th Aves.), unless otherwise noted.

Poetry Reading: Cathy Park Hong, Kathleen Ossip, and Martha Rhodes
“Engine Empire,” Cathy Park Hong’s new poetry collection, was published this spring by
W. W. Norton. Kathleen Ossip is most recently the author of “The Cold War” (Sarabande Books, 2011). Poet and Four Way Books director Martha Rhodes reads from her latest collection, “The Beds” (Autumn House Press, 2012).

Fiction Reading: Mat Johnson and Dana Spiotta
Mat Johnson writes fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels. His newest release is “Pym: A Novel” (Spiegel & Grau, 2011). Dana Spiotta reads from her widely acclaimed novel “Stone Arabia,” published by Scribner in 2011.

NYU Creative Writing Program senior faculty member Sharon Olds shares poems from her newly published collection, “Stag’s Leap” (Knopf, 2012). Olds will be introduced by Creative Writing Program Director Deborah Landau.

VIDA Cocktail Party and Meet-N-Greet
Brief presentations from VIDA’s guests along with a Q & A will be followed by informal conversation. Special guests include VIDA board members and Lucie Brock-Broido, Sarah Gambito, and Deborah Landau. This event is co-sponsored with VIDA: Women in the Literary Arts.

Ilya Kaminsky reads from his new book, “Dark Elderberry Branch: Poems of Marina Tsvetaeva” (Alice James Books, 2012), co-“narrated” with poet Jean Valentine, whose poetry collections include “Break the Glass” (Copper Canyon Press, 2010).
