Danny Strong, adjunct faculty in New York University’s Undergraduate Film & Television Division of the Kanbar Institute at the Tisch School of the Arts, won a 2012 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries or Movie for the HBO film "Game Change."
17 Tisch School Alumni Also Win 2012 Emmy Awards
Danny Strong, adjunct faculty in New York University’s Undergraduate Film & Television Division of the Kanbar Institute at the Tisch School of the Arts, won a 2012 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries or Movie for the HBO film Game Change. The film won a total of five Emmys in all, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie. In addition, 17 alumni from NYU’s Tisch School also walked away as winners at the 2011-2012 Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles. In all, 63 members of the Tisch School community received 77 nominations this year in the Primetime and Creative Arts categories. Strong teaches Adaptation: A Screenwriting Workshop at the Tisch School. He adapted the script for Game Change from the book with the same title, written by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. Previously, he was nominated for an Emmy for his script for Recount, an HBO film about the 2000 presidential election. He won a Writers Guild of America award for Best Original Screenplay for a Television Movie for Recount. He began his career as an actor and is particularly known for roles he played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls. He also recently had a recurring role on Mad Men.
