The View from Left Field, an exhibition of 73 black & white photographs and archival records from The Daily Worker, the official newspaper of the American Communist Party that was acquired in 2006 by the Tamiment Library at New York University, is on view at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, The Department of Photography & Imaging.  It opened September 4 and will remain on view through November 17, 2012.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Professor Shelley Rice, Department of Photography & Imaging and the Department of Art History in NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences, and Michael Nash, NYU’s Tamiment Library.  Photography & Imaging undergraduate Jonno Rattman (’13) and Photography & Imaging Technical Director Karl Peterson are also key collaborators.  This project was supported in part by a grant from the NYU Arts Council.  The Department will host a reception for the exhibition at the Tisch School on September 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at which the public is invited.

The View from Left Field is on view at the Tisch School of the Arts, 721 Broadway, 8th floor, Department of Photography & Imaging from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. weekdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.  The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free.  A photo ID is required when entering the building.  For further information, call 212.998.1930, or visit www.photo.tisch.nyu.edu.

The Department of Photography & Imaging is an intensive four-year BFA program centered on the making and understanding of images. It is a diverse department embracing multiple perspectives.
