Walsh, an art history major who is a student in the College’s Urban Design and Architecture Studies program, has focused on commercial and institutional design, preservation, and mid-20th century architecture, with a specific emphasis on Brutalist architecture, which flourished from the 1950s to the mid-1970s. His coursework has included a range of classes in architecture and urban planning, from the history of New York’s grid to historic preservation and sustainable public spaces.
The foundation also awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Zain Ahmad, a civil engineering major at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly).
