Globe Flower (Trollius ledebourii) in Mercer Plaza, 251 Mercer Street

Here's a new addition to Mercer Plaza: Globe Flower now in bloom. Bluestone Perennials offers this advice if you want to grow your own:

"Prized for its flower, it produces globular shaped multi-petalled orange blossoms in summer. Deeply cut, serrated leaves. Needs a rich moist soil to be self-sufficient. Great paired with Ferns, Astilbe and Lobelia. Trollius are most happy in moist, organic soil and cooler climates. Dislikes being disturbed. Rounded, bowl-shaped flowers are held above deeply filigreed foliage. Prefers constantly moist, high-organic soil.  Division is seldom necessary or beneficial, but can be done in spring.  Will be slow to recover.  Cut back after blooms have finished, feeding at this time may produce new blooms. Will self sow."
