Students to Develop Computer Programs During 24-hour “hackNY Hackathon”—Oct. 1-2 at NYU’s Courant Institute
NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences will host hackNY.org’s fourth student Hackathon, in which students race to build new applications over a 24-hour period using at least one application programming interface (API) from a presenting New York City-based startup company, beginning on Saturday, October 1.

New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences will host hackNY.org’s fourth student Hackathon, in which students race to build new applications over a 24-hour period using at least one application programming interface (API) from a presenting New York City-based startup company, beginning on Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. (251 Mercer Street, room 109 [at Mercer and West 4th Streets/enter on Gould Plaza at West 4th and Greene Streets]).

The Hackathon concludes with a Courant-hosted DemoFest, in which student teams present their projects to an audience of hundreds and a panel of judges, on Sunday, October 2, noon-2 p.m (251 Mercer Street).

During the hackathon, a handful of technical “ambassadors” from New York’s startup community will be on hand throughout the night to answer questions, help quash bugs, and provide support when programming challenges arise. More than 250 students from 30 universities in the U.S. and Canada are expected to compete.

EDITOR’S NOTE:

ABOUT HACKNY: hackNY is an initiative founded to federate and mentor the next generation of NYC tech all-stars. During the summer we organize the hackNY Fellows program, including internships with NYC-area startups as well as a lecture series and housing. During the school year, we organize student hackathons to introduce students to fellow members of the hacking population and to the exciting startups in NYC where their skills are enthusiastically needed. For more information, email info@hackNY.org. For an introduction to its Fellows program please see the recent video created by the class of 2011 hackNY Fellows by clicking here.
